Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting

Held on July17, 2025

Mayor Pro-tem Neil Benton called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. Present besides Mr.

Benton were Council Members Carey Childress, Shirley Jacobs, Judith Katalinic and Gerald Velie,

who constituted a quorum. Also present were Mary D. Bakan, Acting Village Clerk; Robert H.

Corbett, Village Attorney; Stephanie Moore, Village Planner, and Louis Hesse, Village Building

Inspector.

Mr. Benton opened the meeting with an invocation and leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the

Flag of the United States and the Salute to the Flag of North Carolina.

The Mayor Pro-tem called for comments on the agenda and there were no corrections or

additions. Minutes of the June 19, 2025 meeting were approved on motion by Mr. Childress,

seconded by Ms. Katalinic. The June 2025 Financial Report was approved on motion by

Ms.Katalinic, seconded by Ms. Jacobs.

On motion by Ms. Katalinic, seconded by Mr. Childress, the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget was

amended to increase the salaries of Mr. Hesse and Ms. Moore by $300 for the year.

On motion by Mr. Velie, seconded by Ms. Katalinic, the addition of black carbon steel railing to

the access ramp, by Mr. David West, was approved at a price of $3,302.28, with provision for a

ten percent contingency in the event of price increases to materials.

The following items were discussed without action, the hazard mitigation plan, record and data

preservation, the Village Hall sign, the entrance doors to the Hall and a committee to make

recommendations on improvements to the Hall.

Reports from the Inspector and Planner were received.

On motion by Mr. Childress, seconded by Ms. Katalinic, the meeting was adjourned at 7:34 P.M.
