Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting

Held on April 16, 2026

Mayor Pro Tem Neil Benton called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.   Attending are Mayor Pro-Tem Neil Benton, Councilwoman Shirley Jacobs,  Councilwoman Judith Katalinic, Councilman Gerald Velie, Village Clerk Ms. Mary D. Bakan, Planner Stephanie Moore, Building Inspector Louis T. Hesse, and Village Attorney Robert Hugh Corbett. Absent were Mayor Robert Barnhill and  Councilman Carey Childress

Mayor Pro- Tem called the meeting to order. Ms. Bakan announced there is a quorum.

An invocation was delivered by Mr. Velie and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Salute to the Flag of North Carolina were led by Mayor Pro-Tem Neil Benton.

Agenda Hearing:   The agenda was approved on motion by Ms. Katalinic, seconded by Mr. Velie

Approvals:

1)On motion by Ms. Katalinic, seconded by Ms. Jacobs, the Minutes of the March 19, 2026 meeting were approved.

2)The March 2026 Financial Report was approved on motion by Mr. Velie seconded by Ms. Katalinic.

Public Comment: There were none.

Reports:

1)An oral report was received from Mr. Hesse.

2)Ms. Moore noted a rezoning request was pending and that a public hearing would be necessary.  On motion of Ms. Jacobs, seconded by Ms. Katalinic, the hearing was set for 6:00 P.M. on May 21, 2026.

Unfinished Business: Action on all items was tabled until the next meeting.

New Business: There was no new business.

On motion by Mr. Velie, seconded by Ms. Jacobs, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
